From 5-second films, I got to see Dude Bro Party Massacre 3. It's a parody of 80's slasher films. They did put some effort in making this look like a retro teen horror movie. The way the film looks and the aspect ratio scream "damaged VHS tape."
Right off the bat, if you want a taste of the film, go watch the trailer. It really gives a good idea of the film's groove. It's bloody, funny and retarded. Really, you're not gonna get anything out of this if you're not into sophomore dark humor. The movie gets pretty creative with it, though. Not gonna spoil it, but in case you get to watch this film, there's a joke with the subtitles that I found really funny and that you might want to look out for.
Despite being set in the 80's, and pretending to be from the 80's actually, it does feature frat boy stereotypes from the 90's or even early 2000's. It may just be that I'm not old enough, but other than the monster and the setup, this reminds me more of something like American Pie more than any 80's horror film. It's like American Pie meets a low budget. It's also better because it doesn't have Jason Biggs, and he sucks cock. This movie utilizes a lot of the skater teen bro stereotypes as well. Again, very 90's.
The protagonist is the surviving twin, whose brother was assassinated by "Motherface," a demon-monster thing who wants to kill the brotherhood the protagonist's brother was a part of. So he goes with them and joins them, and now he has to face the monster and kill her for the last time. In case you haven't figured it out by now, many people die in this movie, and they die in gross, stupid and disgusting ways. That said, I'm usually turned off by shock value if it's uncalled for. But here, everything feels as part of a whole, it's not just shock value. Well, it kind of is, but what I mean to say is that you can tell it's not just there to gross you out, but it feels right in tune with the rest of the film. It's pretty consistent. It doesn't make you feel bad for laughing either, it takes itself as seriously as you can tell by the trailer... Meaning they don't give a shit about their credibility as filmmakers. I found it funny and mostly well-made.
We also follow the story of a cop and his companion, and I didn't really care for it all that much, but it had its moments. The comedy was there, it's just that the characters and the whole vibe was a bit different from the bro retard frenzy of the main cast, and it was odd to change the line of events like that.
This movie can be genuinely funny, and it doesn't lack creativity either. It's just not memorable enough. I don't think they were going for anything more than making an ultra violent teen horror comedy, and they kinda achieved that. It's a fun film, watch it with friends.
6.5/10
